applyGOAT is an AI preparation toolkit for job seekers, built by a small team registered in London with development credited to Stuttgart, and no outside funding on record (Tracxn, 2026). Upload a resume and it generates a job-specific CV and cover letter per opening, scores the CV against the job with an ATS check, and explains every edit it makes in plain English. An AI coach it calls Goaty runs five agents across the search: a job-description analyst, a profile agent, a strengths-and-gaps read, an action plan, and interview prep. A tracker keeps every application and follow-up in one list, and a free Chrome extension autofills application forms across portals.

Two things deserve real credit. The transparency is genuine design, not a slogan: the product shows the before and after of each change with the reason, and its own page states "Nothing ships without your final approval." And the price is honest. The free tier covers 3 resume optimizations, 3 cover letters, and 2 ATS scans; Pro runs $7.99 a month, or $4.99 a month billed quarterly, for unlimited use of all of it.

What the reviews say

The public record is small and warm. The Chrome extension holds 4.7 out of 5 across 56 ratings with about 1,000 users, and reviewers praise the time saved on forms, singling out smooth autofill on Workday portals. There is no Trustpilot presence and no meaningful G2 footprint, which fits a young product more than it faults one. The site's own claim of 4.9 stars across 80 plus countries has no independent source behind it, so the extension store is the only verifiable signal today.

There is a data difference too. A resume is an identity file: name, contact details, address, work history. applyGOAT does not state which AI models process it, and tools in this category typically run on outside LLM providers, so that file is handled by companies you never signed up with. CoBlack runs self-hosted models as a US company: your data serves inference only, never leaves, is never sold, never trains shared models.

Who each tool is for

If you enjoy driving your own search and want better materials in hand, applyGOAT is a fair deal: real per-job tailoring, an honest free tier, a useful coach, and one of the cheapest Pro plans in the category. It respects your control, and for some people that control is the point.

If you are that same person but the 46 hours is the problem, CoBlack does the part applyGOAT leaves with you. Tailored applications convert to interviews at 7 to 9 percent against 2 to 3 percent for generic ones (Scale.jobs, 2026), and CoBlack produces that tailored application and then actually sends it.

The honest line
