Closed at capacity
Greenhouse added an application cap in September 2026. A job post can now close on a count, and any capacity rejection that follows says nothing about you.

Greenhouse, one of the systems CoBlack submits applications on, added a setting in September 2026 that ends a job post on a count, not a date. The release notes put it in one line: “Recruiters can now set a maximum number of applications a job post will accept; once the cap is reached, the post automatically moves to draft.”
How the cap closes a post
Greenhouse’s help article on automatic publishing and unpublishing gives the step: “Check Set application capacity and enter the maximum number of applications the job post accepts.” And the close: “Once the cap is reached, the job post is automatically unpublished and stops accepting new applications through the post.”
What the rejection reason does not mean
Automatic rejection is a separate switch. Per the release notes, “Turning on automatic rejection lets recruiters reject post-cap applicants on arrival, with a rejection reason they configure up front.” The help article gives the default wording: “The rejection reason defaults to Rejected due to application capacity.” The switch is off unless chosen: “By default, applications that arrive after the cap is reached are processed normally and appear as candidates.”
A rejection carrying that reason came from a count, not from a reading of the application. It records a full post, not a verdict on the resume, the experience, or the fit. The release notes and the help article do not say how many employers have turned the cap on, or what a typical cap size is.
What CoBlack does and cannot do
Auto Search sources openings daily and directly from employer career pages and ATS feeds, re-checks them, and drops the ones the source has closed. A post unpublished by an application cap is one of them. Auto Match reads fit through the Career Capability Map, on demonstrated capability rather than titles or keywords, and applies only where the match score meets its bar of 60 percent. Auto Apply submits server-side; the application form never reaches the member.
CoBlack cannot see whether an employer has set a cap or how close a post is to it, and it cannot promise an application lands before the cap fills. A match is a read of fit, not a promise of an interview.
If that reason ever reaches your inbox, the post filled before your application arrived, and that is all it says.
